Citing challenges regarding relocation, Terry Slaybaugh has announced that he will leave General Mitchell International (MKE) effective April 24.
“While I have enjoyed my short time with Milwaukee County, my top priority is my family,” Slaybaugh wrote in an email to staff. “Relocation has posed significant challenges such that I have chosen to discontinue employment with Milwaukee County.”
Brian Dranzik, director of transportation for Milwaukee County, will oversee the airport as a successor is chosen.
The recruitment firm Spencer Stuart, which assisted in hiring Slaybaugh, again has been hired to find the next director, according to a statement from the office of County Executive Chris Abele.
“While the County Executive is disappointed in Terry’s decision, he is committed to working aggressively to hire a new airport director who will provide exceptional leadership and performance at the high standard that has been set by Milwaukee County and [General Mitchell International Airport] staff,” according to the statement.
Slaybaugh joined MKE in February. Previously he had been director at Dayton International (DAY) since March 2011.
