SLC Opens Phase 4 Bids, Celebrates Phase 2 Opening

The Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) has launched the concessions selection process for Phase 4 of The New SLC, a 16-gate expansion of the airport’s Concourse B-East.

The SLCDA is looking for a variety of local, regional and national brands for 15 retail and restaurant spaces. The first five gates of Phase 4 are scheduled to open in fall of 2025, followed by 11 additional gates in the fall of 2026.

The New SLC-Phase 4 encompasses 24,602 square feet of restaurant and retail space. Fifteen locations are planned, including two full-service restaurants with alcohol service, five quick serve restaurants, two dedicated full-service coffee concepts, and six specialty retail and news and gift locations.

Earlier this year, SLC announced the selection of operators for 12 concessions spaces slated to open in 2024. Bambuza Hospitality Group, HMSHost, Marshall Retail Group, Paradies Lagardère, SLC Airport Concessions Group and SSP America all won locations in the Phase 3 development.

Also this week, SLC and Delta Air Lines joined to celebrate the completion of Phase 2 of The New SLC Redevelopment Program, which includes 13 new gates and 11 new concessions on Concourse A-East.

The airport opened the initial five gates on the north side of Concourse A-East on May 16, 2023, and four more gates began operating on the south side on Aug. 22, 2023.

“The completion of Phase 2 highlights another remarkable milestone in The New SLC Redevelopment Program,” said Bill Wyatt, Salt Lake City Department of Airports executive director. “Thanks to the dedicated workers who have spent numerous days and nights to ensure these gates and concessions would open today.”

The opening included new concessions on Concourse A-East, including The Atrium, Auntie Anne’s, Burger King, Blue Iguana, Hudson News and Hudson Nonstop, Hugo Coffee Roasters, Jimmy John’s, Millcreek Coffee Roasters, Minute Suites, Protein Bar & Kitchen, Red Rock Brewery, Rockwell Ice Cream, SLC Public Market, Utah Jazz Store, Vessel Kitchen and Wow Bao. P.F. Chang’s will also open in the coming weeks.

OHM is operator of three of the new restaurants. “We are thrilled to continue our growth at SLC with these great concepts,” said Milan Patel, president of OHM. “These three new Phase 2 restaurants – Wow Bao, The Protein Bar and Kitchen and Blue Iguana Mexican Food – brings OHM operations at SLC to seven restaurants.”

The SLC restaurant is the seventh airport location for Wow Bao and second partnership with an Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE).

“This location is a significant opportunity for Wow Bao to further expand our brand presence across the country,” said Geoff Alexander, president and CEO of Wow Bao. “Our airport stores are a key channel that amplifies Wow Bao and demonstrates our commitment to serve quality, fast-casual Asian street food to a broader audience that expects the unique flavors and on-the-go convenience Wow Bao is known for.”
