Multiple airports will soon be home to new Smashburger locations.
With the help of HMSHost Corp., the burger chain will be opening restaurants at George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) and Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International (SJC). All three locations are slated to open in late 2015 or early 2016.
“High-traffic destinations are a tremendous opportunity to put Smashburger in front of large numbers of people, generating awareness and trial at a rate that is more difficult to achieve at a traditional location,” says Scott Crane, CEO of Smashburger. “To continue to grow in this area, we’re committing additional resources for airport development, including teams dedicated to strategic bidding, and thoughtful store and menu design, ensuring that each Smashburger airport location is run efficiently and effectively.”
Smashburger’s typical menu includes burgers, grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, salads, side items such as Haystack Onions and Veggie Frites, and hand-spun Haagen-Dazs shakes. The brand’s airport menu will include breakfast items and a variety of other items to satisfy travelers.
