The Mill Street Brewery Pub soon will be pouring its brews at Toronto Pearson International (YYZ).
The restaurant, operated by SSP Canada, the Canadian division of SSP, will showcase Mill Street Brewery’s beers with locally inspired cuisine. It will be in Terminal 1, between Gates D20 and D22.
“We have seen a growing appreciation and an increasing demand for individually crafted, original beers, lagers and ales,” says Pat Murray, executive vice president of SSP Canada. “Those of us that drink beer appreciate quality, and to have superior, locally brewed beer paired with exceptional food at the airport is a recipe for success. We are proud to be partnering with Mill Street and to be operating their brand at Toronto Pearson International Airport.”
The Toronto-based craft brewery has won national and international brewing awards. Beer options include Tankhouse Pale Ale; Organic Lager, which uses all-natural, certified organic ingredients; and the Mill Street Extra Special Bitter, made with hops imported from England. On the menu, travelers will find pub-style food, such as Port Steak Cobb Salad with Cobblestone stout-infused ranch dressing or Beer Drench Cedar Plank Salmon, topped with maple mustard glaze; menu items are paired with draught beer suggestions.
The newly formed partnership has SSP Canada operating the pub under a licensing agreement with Mill Street.
“Everybody is very excited about this opportunity,” says Irvine Weitzman, president and CEO of Mill Street Brewery. “This is an interactive, fun experience. Customers will be able to sample a variety of new and interesting beers, enjoy food and beer pairings and even participate in special brewmaster’s lectures on the art of making great beer.”
Pamela Griffith-Jones, chief marketing and commercial officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, says it is excited to welcome the pub to the airport.
“We have made a commitment to create unique and memorable experiences for our guests at the airport and to showcase the best of what Toronto and this region have to offer, and Mill Street Brewery is a great example of that,” she says. “Our guests are going to love the opportunity for great beer and great food in a fun and interactive environment while they wait for their flights.”
