SSP Canada has formed a partnership with celebrity chef Massimo Capra to open two Italian restaurants at Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) in the fall.
“Massimo Capra is a celebrated chef, outstanding restaurateur, noted author and much loved television personality,” says Pat Murray, executive vice president of SSP Canada. “We are honored to be working with someone of his caliber and are absolutely delighted to be showcasing his passion, creative force and incredible food to the passengers of Toronto Pearson.”
Boccone Trattoria Veloce will be a 2,287 sq. ft. full-service casual restaurant in Terminal 1’s domestic departures area. It will feature Capra’s culinary creations, complemented by an extensive wine list. The second location, Boccone Pronto, will act as the quick-service counterpart serving Italian fare and coffee to go; it will be in Terminal 1’s U.S.-Transborder departures area.
“Having Chef Massimo bring his expertise and love of food to Toronto Pearson is very exciting for the airport,” says Pamela Griffith-Jones, chief marketing and commercial officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “The energy and passion that comes with Chef Massimo is contagious, and we are thrilled to be working with him to open two great restaurants for our guests to enjoy while at the airport.”
Capra is the chef and co-owner of two widely known Toronto eateries: Mistura and Sopra Upper Lounge. He is also the creative force behind the recently re-launched Rainbow Room in the Niagara Falls’ Crown Plaza Hotel.
“Since my arrival in Toronto in 1982, I have been on this amazing and wonderful path, of being able to share my passion with so many people across Canada,” Capra says. “When the opportunity to partner up with SSP Canada and branch my passion to Canadians and international travelers alike, it was a no brainer. It was a perfect fit. SSP brings my same passion for food to travelers all over the world.
