SSP has won two new contracts: one for Cairo International, Terminal 3, and one for Terminal 3 of Abu Dhabi International.
Both terminals are scheduled to open later this year. In Cairo, SSP will operate about 80% of the food outlets; the company will be the exclusive provider of food and beverage operations in the Middle East airport, where it established a base last year.
Cairo’s food court will feature many of SSP’s brands such as Upper Crust, Caffé¨ Ritazza, Häagen-Dazs Cafe, Gino’s Pizza and Pasta, The Pie, To Go, Salad Buffet, Burger King, and Hippo Bar and Grill.
“We’re delighted to have won this new business,” says Johann Weinzettl, chief executive officer of SSP Central Europe, Middle East and India. “Our long and successful track record in Egypt coupled with our knowledge of the consumer means that we have a sound understanding of the brands that will be well suited to this terminal.”
Under the three-year contract with Abu Dhabi Airports Co., SSP will operate seven units at the new terminal, slated to open later this year. Brands will include Burger King, Chen Fu Ji, Bill Bentley, Upper Crust, Segafredo, Gino’s Italian and an Asian food concept.
