The Metropolitan Airports Commission has awarded two food and beverage packages to SSP America for restaurants at Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP).
Between the two packages, SSP will operate four units with contracts lasting for eight years for quick-service concepts and nine years for full-service concepts.
“The Metropolitan Airports Commission and Minneapolis-St. Paul International are clearly dedicated to giving their customers an airport experience reflective of the Minneapolis-St. Paul community,” says Michael Svagdis, president and CEO of SSP. “The experience reflects the uniqueness of the Twin Cities, their renowned Midwestern hospitality and diverse local food culture that celebrates the region’s bountiful farmland. We are honored to have been awarded Batches 104 and 105 and feel the win is indicative of SSP America’s continued commitment to showcasing local brands.”
In its awarded spaces, SSP plans to open Republic and the McNally Smith School for Music, LoLo America Kitchen, Black Sheep Pizza and Camden Food Co.
Republic and the McNally Smith School for Music will be located in Concourse D. It will offer craft beer and food made with ingredients from regional farmers, as well as live music performances.
LoLo America Kitchen will be in Concourse E. It is a local concept owned by Brad Nordeen and Joe Ehlenz, natives of Stillwater, Minn. There will be craft cocktails and beer and small plates comprised of seasonal ingredients.
Black Sheep Pizza will be in the airport mall and is a chef-driven concept by Jordan Smith. Smith’s pizzas will be made with local items and feature coal-fired crusts.
Finally, Camden Food Co. will be located in Concourse F. The proprietary concept features healthy food options like locally produced and regionally sources products, hot and cold sandwiches and grab-and-go items.
