Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and its hotel loyalty program, Starwood Preferred Guest, is giving members a way to get through airport security faster.
SPG has partnered with Clear, operated by Verified Identity Pass Inc., which authenticates members and provides them with a card that allows them to access designated security lanes at 21 airports throughout the country.
SPG’s Platinum members will be offered the program free for one year; Gold and Preferred members will receive three-month Clear card trial offers.
“Starwood Preferred Guest strives to discover new ways to further enhance our loyal guests’ entire travel experience,” says Mark Vondrasek, senior vice president of distribution, loyalty, and partnership marketing for Starwood. “With the Clear card, we can help provide our guests a speedy trip through airport security as they head to their ultimate destination, whether it be home or one of our hotels.”
Registration for Starwood’s program goes through Feb. 28. Applicants will have their identities authenticated, as well as provide iris and fingerprint images. Once they have been approved, travelers will receive a card that will get them through the designated lanes, which features a concierge staff.
“Together, SPG and Clear can serve the nation’s business travelers and upscale road warriors by bringing customers what they want: top-notch service, expedited handling and friendly, courteous treatment,” says Steven Brill, Clear’s chief executive officer. “We’re excited to welcome these new Clear cardholders to our lanes so they can begin flying through security at the nation’s airports this holiday season and in the coming year.”
