St. Louis Lambert International (STL) has commenced construction of three lactation stations so breastfeeding mothers can have private spaces for nursing or using a breast pump while at the airport.
The three 80 square-foot lactation suites will be post-security in Concourse A, C and E, and each will feature a sink, power outlets and a full-back club chair with a moveable arm table. Additional amenities include a moveable ottoman and a bench for additional seating or a place to store travel items while using the space.
The design of the new STL Lactation Suites were created in partnership with St. Louis design and architecture firm Arcturis.
“The design, amenities and ambience of the spaces are based on a combination of new federal regulations as well as feedback from passengers and focus groups,” says Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, STL director. “These spaces will provide a private, dignified location to breastfeed or breast pump for mothers traveling through the airport.”
