It’s almost time for Mardi Gras, and Lambert-St. Louis International (STL) is getting into the spirit.
The airport is getting dressed up for thousands of visitors expected to visit St. Louis for the annual Historic Soulard Mardi Gras celebration.
For the third consecutive year, STL is hosting an exhibit of St. Louis Mardi Gras posters dating to 1982. The main exhibit is in the Terminal 1 baggage-claim area; a second exhibit is in the Terminal 2 ticketing lobby. The posters will be on display through the end of the month.
STL has also dedicated Feb. 17, the day before the River City Casino Grand Parade, as Mardi Gras Day. Airport employees will be encouraged to dress up for Mardi Gras on that day, and local musicians will play and greet arriving passengers throughout the day at both terminals.
The parade, on Feb. 18, is one of the largest Mardi Gras events in the country. The month full of Mardi Gras events ends with the Lumiere Place Light Up the Night Fat Tuesday Parade in downtown St. Louis on Feb. 21.
