Trofie Media Center Sales Up At Least 22%

Trofie is bucking the trends in the publishing industry.

The national firm specialized in marketing and advertising solutions for airport retailers and other venues, has announced that 2008’s fourth-quarter sales from its Trofie Media Center saw a substantial increase. Conde Nast titles using Trofie Media Center at Compass Books at San Francisco International (SFO) were up 24%, and other publishers’ titles saw gains of between 22% and 52%.

The company says the sales increase is largely due to two 40-inch screens in the media center, one displaying the Danoo Network programming, such as breaking news, weather and sports, and the other showing real-time flight and gate information from Flyte Systems so customers don’t have to leave the store to check flight status.

“At a time when the publishing industry and retail stores are experiencing declining revenues and other economic challenges, to be able to report significant sales increases based on Trofie’s Media Center is very exciting,” says Christine Z. Crowley, Trofie managing partner and chief executive officer.

In the fourth quarter, the Media Center fixtures were placed in Compass Books at SFO and Nelsons Books at Sacramento International (SMF). Both locations featured the Conde Nast titles as part of the trial period, and sales for the quarter increased significantly.
