TSA changes rules on lighters and breast milk

In an effort to focus on detecting explosive threats, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that common lighters will no longer be banned from carry-on bags at airports, effective Aug. 4.

Torch lighters still are not allowed. The agency had been collecting more than 22,000 lighters daily.

TSA also announced that mothers will be permitted to bring breast milk in quantities greater than three ounces as long as it is declared for inspection at airports regardless of whether the child is flying.

This is the third modification of security procedures in the last year. More information is available at www.tsa.gov.
