TSA Expects Big Numbers for Thanksgiving Travel

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is projecting high travel numbers for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Between Friday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Nov. 26, they’re expected to screen 25 million travelers, a seven percent increase from the same holiday last year.

In past years, many have chosen to fly the day before Thanksgiving, but more recently, that has been shifting to the Friday before, a trend which the TSA expects to continue, hence the 10-day period allotted to holiday travel. The busiest travel days will still be the two leading up to the holiday and the following Sunday, with the latter expected to be one of the top 10 busiest travel days of the year, the TSA projects.
