TSA Family Lanes To Arrive At All Checkpoints

The Transportation Security Administration expects to have its popular family lane concept expanded to every security checkpoint in the country by Nov. 20.

Families, individuals unfamiliar with air travel procedures and travelers with special needs can go through security at their own pace, under the program. The lanes will also accommodate travelers with medically necessary liquids, aerosols and gels of more than 3 ounces.

“Passengers have clearly demonstrated their preference to go at their own pace,” says TSA Administrator Kip Hawley. “Expanding these lanes to every airport and directing families and passengers with medically necessary liquids to them increases passenger convenience and security.”
Travelers who are carrying the aforementioned liquids and gels will have an additional screen expected to take fewer than two minutes.
