The Transportation Security Administration will begin taking applications this week from passengers at Lambert-St. Louis International (STL) for its PreCheck program.
The PreCheck program allows low-risk frequent travelers an expedited security screening process at participating airports. Interested passengers should make an appointment and then complete an enrollment process. The program costs $85 for five years.
The PreCheck application center at STL will be inside Terminal 1. More than 115 airports nationwide and nearly a dozen airlines participate in the program.
Screening benefits for participants could include no longer having to remove shoes; 3-1-1 compliant liquids or gel bags from carry-on luggage; laptops from bags; light outerwear or jackets; or belts. Eligible passengers will have information embedded in the barcode of their boarding passes; passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA PreCheck lanes with eligible passengers. However, no passenger is guaranteed expedited screening, according to the TSA.
