TWA Hotel to Open Runway Rink at JFK

The TWA Hotel, the only on-airport hotel at John F. Kennedy International (JFK) will open an ice rink later this month so guests can practice their toe loops and jumps during their stay.

The custom 56-by-44-foot Runway Rink opens November 30 and will operate seven days a week through the end of February. In addition to letting guests take to the ice, the Runway Rink will feature skating shows that take spectators on an Arctic expedition without leaving New York City’s tundra.

During their time at the rink, guests will be able to enjoy beers, Sno-Caps candy and a variety of other snacks and beverages. The Runway Rink will be the centerpiece of the 512-room TWA Hotel’s winter wonderland that will also include a dazzling holiday light display and a tree.

“Normally, when you hear about ice at the airport, it’s not good news,” says Tyler Morse, CEO and managing partner of MCR/MORSE Development, the owner-operator of the TWA Hotel. “But in this case, people can get excited about a frozen tarmac at JFK — we’re creating the Rockefeller Center of Queens.”
