Travelers in need of a ride at Oakland International (OAK) now have the option to use Uber’s uberX.
“Uber’s availability at OAK expands our ground-transportation offerings for passengers,” says Kristi McKenney, acting director of aviation. “It is important that we are inclusive and responsive to customer demand, which includes the ability to use” transportation network companies.
The service is part of a pilot program that allows the use of uberX to pick up and drop off passengers at the airport.
“We are thrilled to add Oakland to the growing list of airports that have embraced ridesharing services like uberX as a safe, reliable transportation option,” says Wayne Ting, Uber Bay Area general manager. “Thanks to the leadership of the Oakland International Airport and the board of port commissioners, travelers from all over the world will now have the choice of requesting a safe, reliable and affordable ride with uberX when they land at Oakland International Airport.”
