Bar Symon, from celebrity chef Michael Symon, has opened at Pittsburgh International (PIT).
The joint venture, operated by United Concessions Group and The Paradies Shops, keeps with Symon’s farm-to-table philosophy. It works with local vendors and has partnered with Mediterra Bakehouse to supply fresh bread; produce will be sourced from Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Paragon Wholesale Foods.
“I am so pleased to bring my passion for serving great food in a fun environment to airport travelers in Pittsburgh,” says Symon. “Dining is all about the experience, and we’ve captured that with Bar Symon. I have no doubt it will quickly become a passenger favorite.”
The restaurant’s interior design reflects the area’s history, with photos of the former Pittsburgh Meat Market and historic Rothman’s Restaurant and Bar. Sections of a former Pennsylvania bowling alley have been reclaimed and used as the restaurant’s table tops.
The 2,500 sq. ft. restaurant can be found in the airport’s center core.
