Bert van der Stege is the newly appointed vice president of business development and chief commercial officer for the Halifax International Airport Authority. He replaces Ian Arthur, who recently resigned.
Van der Stege will be in charge of the HIAA’s revenue development – both aeronautical and non-aeronautical. He will oversee strategies to add flights, destinations, passengers and cargo and to growth non-aeronautical revenue sources like parking, shops, restaurants, advertising and car rentals. Finally, he will also be responsible for attracting and retaining terminal building tenants and commercial development of the airport property.
Van der Stege most recently was vice president of commercial with First Air. He also has worked for Lufthansa, Arik Air and Rwandair.
