Phil Washington, CEO of Denver International Airport (DEN) and Eboni Wimbush, president and CEO of the Airport Minority Advisory Council are among the 24 member appointed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to serve on the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity (ACTE) under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA).
The members are tasked with helping to inform the Buttigieg on best practices to institutionalize equity into U.S. Department of Transportation programs, policies, regulations, and activities.
The council will also strengthen and establish partnerships with overburdened and underserved communities, offer a forum for coordination and the exchange of information on equity concerns raised in local and regional transportation decisions; and provide added strength, objectivity, and confidence to management’s decision-making process.
“Transportation is a fundamental aspect of every person’s life, and it is our duty to ensure that everyone has access to safe, efficient, and reliable transportation options, including underserved communities who have been historically underrepresented,” said Washington. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow committee members to drive positive change and create a more inclusive transportation landscape.”
