The Wayne County Airport Authority, which operates Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP), will be hosting a Small Business Opportunity Forum on Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at DTW’s L.C. Smith Building.
The forum is an effort to show how to become a WCAA-certified small business enterprise, as well as highlight upcoming contract opportunities and proposal development techniques for SBEs.
“The airport authority’s mission includes creating economic vitality in the region we serve; and our commitment to small business enterprises is a high priority for our organization,” said WCAA CEO Lester Robinson. “We are passionate about certifying more small businesses and having them participate in airport authority business opportunities.”
The event starts with a continental breakfast, and then testimonials from small businesses that have been successful with WCAA will be heard. Authority division representatives will share information about anticipated contract opportunities.
Participants will then be able to network with key WCAA staff from 10 a.m. to noon, and the event will end with a workshop that includes tips on preparing quality proposals.
Small businesses with headquarters in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw or Wayne counties are eligible to become WCAA SBE certified. Details about this program can be found at www.metroairport.com/business/SBEProgram.asp.
RSVPs are requested by Feb. 12.
