Westfield, Hudson Group Unveil JFK Terminal 8 Enhancements

John F. Kennedy International’s (JFK) Terminal 8 received a retail revamp courtesy of developer Westfield and travel retailer Hudson Group.

Eight new shops are now open in the terminal, which is managed by American Airlines. One is a Victoria’s Secret; the other seven are Hudson stores.

Five of the Hudson stores stand alone. One is co-branded as Euro Cafe/Hudson. Another one, near Gate 42, is a 3,226-square-foot shop that houses a Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts.

One of the stand-alone stores is a 2,069-square-foot flagship Hudson that greets passengers as they pass through the security checkpoint.

“The addition of these new shopping and dining options at JFK Terminal 8 not only creates a friendlier, more relaxing visit, but makes people look forward to traveling with American Airlines,” says David Lombard, the airline’s manager of strategic alliances. “We’re excited to enhance the travel experience and high level of service for all of our customers.”

Hudson, in the redesigned stores, used whimsical, color-coded signage to attract customers’ attention to four distinct selling areas: Media, Marketplace, Essentials and Destination. The stores also offer an enhanced selection of healthy snacks, grab-and-go foods, authentic souvenirs, and a range of electronics and accessories.

“As ‘The Traveler’s Best Friend,’ our goal was to redesign our core concept Hudson News to create a more open, friendly and welcoming environment for travelers,” says Joe DiDomizio, Hudson Group’s president and CEO.

The Victoria’s Secret shop offers an assortment of beauty products, fragrances and accessories, including a range of bags, luggage and sunglasses.

The terminal opened in 2005. The 1.58 million-square-foot facility has 29 gates with capacity to serve 12.8 million passengers yearly.
