Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), Alaska Airlines and The Arc are teaming on an event this Saturday that aims to help children with autism spectrum disorders learn to navigate air travel.
The Wings for Autism event is a national initiative of The Arc intended to alleviate some of the stress that families who have a child with an intellectual or development disability may experience when traveling by air, while also educating airport and airline professionals.
The event will be an “airport rehearsal” that guides families through check-in, security and boarding of a plane. Alaska Airlines will donate the services of a Boeing 737 plane and crew, which will taxi around the airport.
The event first debuted at SEA in January.
