YHZ Lauded For New Baggage Drop

Halifax Stanfield International (YHZ) has been recognized by the Information Technology Association of Canada for its new self-service baggage drop.

The automated, common-use, self-service bag drop won an Ingenious Award in the Not-For-Profit category. The award recognizes the system’s use of information technology to improve efficiencies and upgrade the traveler’s airport experience.

The self-serve baggage solution is available to all customers. It allows travelers to take their bags to a kiosk, input their flight information, print their own baggage tag and drop their bags without long lines or waits.

The airport’s “use of technology to make air travel just a little easier for everyone is commendable,” says Karna Gupta, president and CEO of ITAC. “We hope that recognizing this innovation serves as a reminder that Canadian organizations can be global leaders if they think creatively and draw on the advantages technology affords.”
