YVR Launches New Food and Beverage RFP

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has launched four Request for Proposal packages to fill 12 food and beverage locations in their domestic and international terminals. The 12 outlets will total more than 3,300 square meters (10,826 sq. ft.). YVR is seeking quick service restaurants, cafés, marketplace concepts as well as full-service restaurants.

Over the next three years, YVR plans to spend $1.7 billion on major airport projects designed to enhance the traveler experience through the airport. These projects include the expansion of Pier D with the addition of new duty free, retail and food and beverage offerings.

The added space will feature a Mythical Island installation, which will try to create a unique West-Coast sense of place and act as a hub for new retail and food and beverage offerings. The space’s design will include an enclosed coastal island that is open to the sky.

Of the four RFP packages, Package 1 consists of one full-service restaurant and one casual dining restaurant. Package 2 is a single location, full-service restaurant. Package 3 includes two locations: one casual dining restaurant and one new location for a marketplace and bar concept in the Pier D expansion. Package 4 consists of seven total locations: quick service restaurants and one quick service café.

YVR’s current concession program includes more than 170 shops, services and restaurants.

Application and confidentiality agreements must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15 for RFP submissions to be considered. For more information on RFP applications, please visit YVR’s website. RFP materials will be distributed Monday, June 18.

“We are pleased to invite potential partners to tender for opportunities in food and beverage,” says Mirela Rusu, director of commercial services for the Vancouver Airport Authority’s terminals. “At YVR, we are seeking new and existing food and beverage partners to enhance our award-winning concession program. Through the RFP process, we are looking for a balance of local and national flavors as well as international brands.”
