Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has launched a Travel Rehearsal Program, an initiative that offers support to passengers with disabilities or diverse needs. Those travelers can book a time to visit YVR in advance of a booked trip to practice their upcoming journey through the airport.
In a LinkedIn post, the Vancouver Airport Authority said airport rehearsal is designed to help reduce barriers to air travel and to provide a chance for individuals to practice and prepare, making the airport a less stressful and more familiar environment.
“Our goal is to ensure travel is inclusive, accessible and enjoyable for all passengers moving through YVR, and that passengers are guided through the steps in advance to help reduce travel anxiety and the likelihood of encountering challenges on their day of travel,” the airport said. “The travel rehearsal will introduce individuals to YVR’s services and programs that are available to all guests.”
YVR limits the groups to those with confirmed bookings and caregivers or guardians to provide a more personalized and tailored experience for each passenger’s needs.
