HMSHost Corp will bring three new restaurants to Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) under an 8-year contract for the spaces in the airport’s Terminal 3 Domestic/International Departures area.
“We are very excited to have been awarded these new restaurant spaces in Toronto Pearson International Airport,” says Amy Dunne, vice president of business development for HMSHost. “The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is a great partner, and we look forward to providing these unique and exciting options to travelers in the near future. Each of these brands are deeply focused and dedicated to the type of food they serve, and this translates to a variety of top quality offerings that will appeal to Toronto’s diverse international traveler base.”
The three new concepts will be Shanghai 360, Smoke’s Burritorie and Smashburger. Shanghai 360 is coming into the airport through a partnership with Toronto’s Innovated Restaurant Group. It serves authentic Chinese cuisine in a quick-service format.
Smoke’s Burritorie is a new brand from Smoke’s Poutinerie. The concept will serve burritos filled with ingredients like pork, carne asada chorizo and conchinita chicken. “Toronto Pearson International Airport is a springboard to airports all over the world, and now we can also call them our valued partner,” says Ryan Smolkin, founder and CEO of Smoke’s Burritorie. “We couldn’t be more excited to work together as we open the first of many airport units.”
Fast-casual burger joint Smashburger, the third new restaurant, serves burgers made from 100 percent Black Angus Beef. Other menu items include salads, Smashfries, the Toronto Smashburger and Toronto Smashchicken.
“At Toronto Pearson, we seek out opportunities to give passengers a range of choices and access to some of the great food coming out of the local food scene,” says Michael Ross, director of commercial development for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “The new Terminal 3 restaurants give travelers through our airport the variety they want and a great taste of our city and the world.”
