The flavors of Mexico have made their way to the Airmall at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) with the opening of Zona Cocina.
“The best thing about the people at Zona Cocina is that they love food,” says Brett Kelly, vice president of AIRMALL Maryland. “This is a great improvement and a significant investment in the former Zona Mexicana, which was itself a great restaurant for us.”
The original 2,240-square-foot eatery has been redesigned and transformed with new decor, expanded menus and additional seating. The Latin-inspired restaurant makes dishes from scratch, with a menu that includes regional fare from areas such as Pueblo and Yucatan. Offerings include appetizers, signature salsas, salad, soup, burritos, tacos and hot fajitas, as well as sandwiches and wraps. Specialty items range from cheese enchiladas to mahi mahi and shrimp, and breakfast burritos, a la carte items and desserts are also available.
“Zona Cocina’s flavorful dishes are a hit with our passengers,” adds Paul J. Wiedefeld, CEO of BWI. “The full-service restaurant is the perfect complement to the range of dining choices now in the airport. Travelers have a number of fresh, healthy selections thanks to operators like Zona Cocina.”
The restaurant also has another house specialty: margaritas. Craft and Mexican beers and wines are offered, and 16 varieties of tequila are on the menu.
Zona Cocina is open from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and can be found post-security on Concourse B. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
