Basil Street Pizza and Prepango announced this week the unveiling of two automated pizza kitchens (APKs) at San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to provide travelers with a personal brick-oven style pizza in just three minutes with the push of a button.
Located in the food courts Terminal A and Terminal B at SAT, the Basil Street APKs are the fourth and fifth placements in the state of Texas alone and the first placement in any airport in the world.
The SAT APK rollout follows a successful pilot program at five different closed locations across the US in 2020. Basil Street APKs feature three rotating 10-inch Italian style, thin-crust pizza with a price point between $6.95-$14.95.
“We are thrilled to be the first airport in the world to offer a Basil Street automated pizza kitchen to our travelers,” said Jesus Saenz, Jr., director of airports for San Antonio Airport System, operator of SAT. “Pizza lovers will definitely be drawn to this new innovative concept. Fresh pizza will now be available to our travelers anytime day or night in both terminals. Our team has worked extensively to bring new convenient food options to the airport and this partnership with Basil Street is perfect for our hungry travelers.”
Basil Street is working with Prepango to launch additional APKs across the country through the utilization of Prepango’s expertise and extensive relationships with airports from coast to coast.
