Architect Rian Burger has rejoined Stantec as a senior principal in the company’s global airport practice, where he will provide insights and leadership on how airport design can leverage new technology to reduce the number of checks travelers encounter between the curb and gate.
Burger will work out of Stantec’s Toronto-Wellington office and brings more than 30 years of industry experience along with a keen understanding of the airport business and a creative approach to solving operational challenges faced by airport operators.
Burger’s previous projects include two at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) – the Terminal 1 Redevelopment and Expansion Program, and the Terminal 3 Enhancement Program. He also designed the 18-gate Edmonton International Airport (YEG) expansion, worked on numerous capacity enhancement projects at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and spearheaded the programming and design of the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) Terminal 2 in Santiago, Chile.
“We’re delighted to welcome Rian back to Stantec and we look forward to his leadership of our Airport team in the Greater Toronto region,” says Cecilia Einarson, Stantec’s sector leader for airport terminal projects. “Within a few days of rejoining us, Rian was instrumental in helping our Denver office win the redevelopment of the Denver Airport Great Hall, so we are off to a great start!”
