San Antonio International Airport (SAT) announced this week that Paradies Lagardère will bring the popular San Antonio-headquartered chain Whataburger to the airport in early 2022.
The new restaurant will be located in the food court of Terminal A and will feature a state-of-the-art kitchen and a custom art wall to honor San Antonio landmarks. It will provide jobs for more than 50 local employees, known as Family Members.
“We are excited to welcome Whataburger to the airport family,” said Jesus H. Saenz, Jr., director of airports for the San Antonio Airport System, operator of SAT. “We listened to what our customers wanted and they asked for the famous orange and white stripes of Whataburger.”
Whataburger has been based in San Antonio since 2009 and over the years has developed a passionate regional following that has enabled the brand to generate nearly $3 billion in annual sales.
“It’s an honor to deliver the iconic Whataburger brand to the San Antonio International Airport for travelers to enjoy,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO, Paradies Lagardère. “We have built great relationships with these outstanding partners and appreciate their efforts to make this vision a reality.”
